About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant – SEC Reporting to join a dynamic corporate accounting and financial reporting team. This position is critical in ensuring accurate and timely preparation of all SEC filings and maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal control standards. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in public accounting and/or public company experience, has a deep understanding of financial reporting, and is eager to contribute in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
You will be a key player in external financial reporting efforts and will collaborate with teams across finance, legal, investor relations, and operations to ensure data integrity and compliance with ever-changing regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and support the timely filing of periodic SEC reports including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, S-1, and proxy statements in compliance with SEC guidelines. Draft and review financial statement disclosures and footnotes in alignment with U.S. GAAP and company policies. Ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness of financial reporting by working closely with internal stakeholders across accounting, FP&A, tax, treasury, and legal departments. Stay up to date with new accounting pronouncements (e.g., ASC updates) and SEC reporting requirements; assess their impact on financial reporting and assist in drafting technical accounting position papers and memos. Provide support for the earnings release process, investor relations materials, and quarterly earnings call deliverables. Coordinate and respond to requests from external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual financial audits. Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) in accordance with SOX 404 requirements. Support corporate initiatives such as system implementations, M&A accounting and due diligence, and various process improvement or automation projects. Provide mentorship to junior accounting staff and support leadership with special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA license strongly preferred. Minimum of 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1–2 years focused on SEC reporting. Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience is highly desirable. Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, and financial disclosure requirements. Hands-on experience with reporting tools such as Workiva/Wdesk, Oracle, SAP, or other major ERP systems. Familiarity with SOX compliance and risk assessment frameworks. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling tools. Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to interpret complex financial data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical accounting issues to both financial and non-financial audiences.
