Cost Accounting Manager

Prominent company in the consumer products industry, specializing in distinctive baked goods. The role involves strategizing, evaluating, and conveying the profitability of the manufacturing operations at the plant. The Cost Accounting Manager will generate comprehensive reports highlighting gross margin, efficiencies, plant production, and present essential financial insights for managerial review.

As a vital member of our Finance team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of our manufacturing operations from a cost accounting perspective and providing essential financial data to support the overall business.

Responsibilities:
Monitoring daily inventory transactions to ensure accurate reporting in financial statements, conducting thorough analyses at the plant level for inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS). This role involves interaction with both internal and external customers. Prepare inventory-related reports for the month-end close process and contribute to ongoing finance initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and enhanced financial reporting quality. You will actively participate in the period-end financial close process. Prepare cost estimates for new or specialized products to establish selling prices and production forecasts. Support financial analysis of product costing during the planning process and ensure cost alignment between operations and business units. Provide monthly reviews and annual audit deliverables for cost accounting areas. Uphold and reinforce robust internal controls, ensuring compliance with SOX documentation. Assist the FP&A team in areas related to inventory, write-offs, COGS, and reporting on free cash flow/net collections. Verify and rectify data on labor and materials costs, burden and expense items, inventory, and profit and loss adjustments. Maintain responsibility for an effective cost accounting system and financial reporting structure. By undertaking these responsibilities, you will contribute significantly to the optimization of our cost accounting system and overall financial reporting framework.

Qualifications:
Requires Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited college or university. At least 3+ years’ of cost accounting experience in a mid to large public company with an emphasis on plant manufacturing. Prior experience in manufacturing or cost accounting is preferred. CPA a plus.
