Works closely within the compute services team and with the enterprise architecture team to help define the overall compute and cloud infrastructure strategies. Develops and monitors principles that ensure alignment with our overall enterprise infrastructure architecture and enterprise strategies. Works to help define, and monitors the use of, enterprise compute and secure design patterns with an emphasis on reuse, standardization and best practices. Helps to define and monitor use of enterprise standards for compute infrastructure, cloud computing (private & public), messaging, mobile device management, automation & tools, services and frameworks. Works closely with cross team peer domain architects and technical leads as required when defining a solutions' architecture in all areas that pertain to the compute environment (physical and virtual), cloud and with things such as security, stability, messaging, mobile device and application management, data protection, system management, automation and performance, etc. Collaborates with technical architects on infrastructure non-functional requirements, design, performance, and modernization in alignment with the overall enterprise infrastructure architecture strategy. Provides mentoring and guidance for infrastructure architecture methodologies and disciplines. Defines an overall compute infrastructure architecture future state including the introduction of new technologies and methodologies, modernization opportunities, and the management of technical debt. Recommends infrastructure lifecycle management efficiencies and helps defining the roadmaps. Works closely with the infrastructure teams on enhancing health monitoring capabilities and providing tuning recommendations as well as hardening. Contributes to the systems planning process for new business initiatives including evaluating solution architecture against company standards, and assessing technical risk. Evaluates platforms, tools, and emerging technologies that are candidates for the future state architecture and evolving business strategy. Conducts vendor analysis and proof-of-concepts for new technologies and solutions as needed. Provides escalation support for highly complex technical support issues for our customers by investigating and resolving systems-related matters.
Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, or other related field, or equivalent work experience. 6 to 8 years of experience in architecting / designing compute infrastructure, multi-tenant cloud applications, server operating systems and infrastructure architecture. 10 years IT systems experience. Cloud reference architectures and best practices. Both strategic and hands on tactical technical compute infrastructure architectural experience necessary. Superior technical knowledge in compute, cloud, server operating systems, and associated server services, platforms and security. Some project management experience preferred. ITIL knowledge required. Experience collaborating with domain and enterprise architects and technical leads. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, along with superior collaboration ability. Must demonstrate initiative, exercise good judgment and have the ability to achieve results. Strong understanding of developing and architecting solutions based on non-functional requirements. Demonstrated ability to work well with others and be respected as a technology architect and mentor.
Strong Microsoft Windows Server operating system and VMWare VSphere knowledge and experience. Implement, maintain and document server and environment build processes and procedures. Experience with enterprise level Active Directory architectures, including Group Policy, ADFS and DNS/DHCP. Experience with Cloud IAAS and PAAS architecture, integrations and solutions (i.e. Azure and Amazon Web Services) (preferred). Knowledge and experience in defining, designing and implementing private cloud PaaS positions and architecture for seamless private to public to private migrations. Experience with Mobile Device Management architecture and solutions like AirWatch, MS Intune, etc. Extensive experience architecting, management Office 365 service offerings. Define, evaluate and recommend compute hardware and software solutions / standards. Create, execute and maintain software and patch deployment methodology, design and architecture. Assist other team members to troubleshoot complex systems issues or problems to resolution or escalation. Experience with automation of infrastructure via vRealize Orchestrator, PowerShell and VB Script are a must have, should also be familiarly with configuration management software and automation tools such as (Saltstack, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.). Extensive experience with Windows Server 2012, 2016 and experience with Linux a plus. Experience with the industry leading hypervisors such as, VMWare, Hyper-V, etc.
