The Senior IT Systems Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. The Senior Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
Provide operational support for all site technology services including: networking, telecom, conferencing, wintel-based virtual computing, and desk side services. Coordinate service delivery with third party support service providers. Act as an escalation point and incident manager for issues with site technology services. Serve as the IT site relationship manager and technology advocate for business users. Oversee and deliver Level 1, 2, 3 Support Services for Networking, Information Security, Servers, Storage, Unified Communications, Desktop and Mobile. Provide support with the implementation and support of enterprise networks (SD-WAN, MPLS, VoIP). Produce functional and technical specifications based on user requirements for new systems.
Create and maintain documentation (user, technical, operational) for existing systems. Ensure operational stability, resiliency and recoverability of all systems. Provide Level 2 support for lab information systems. Write, review, execute, and archive GMP computer validation documentation (Validation Plan, IQ, OQ, PQ, RTM, summary reports). Assist with the implementation of Network as a Service (NaaS) Project - Next generation network infrastructure and services. Office 365 (Preparation and Migration Project) - active directory domain consolidation (migration from legacy domains to a single domain), storage rationalization & consolidation, eDiscovery platform selection and implementation, encryption client (Intune) deployment, data retention policy implementation, SharePoint rationalization & consolidation, migration to and deployment of Office 365 services
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or related subject from an accredited university, or equivalent work experience, required. At least 5 years’ experience as a Systems engineer in the biopharmaceutical industry required. At least 5 years’ experience in hands-on delivery, support and maintenance of pharma GXP systems, preferably with laboratory and manufacturing experience. Must have experience with Virtual servers, Active Directory, Office365, Azure Cloud services / SSO, Cisco Networking hardware and a solid understanding of infrastructure. Experience with network performance and infrastructure monitoring systems. Competency with internet, mobile technologies, cloud and ITaaS Solutions. Experience developing, writing, & reviewing computerized systems validation documentation ((Validation Plans, IQ, OQ, PQ, RTM, Risk assessments, Summary Reports). Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail, excellent troubleshooting, communication and leadership skills. Proven ability to assess problems and research solutions. A working knowledge of standard business software (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint). Microsoft Visio is a plus. Must be comfortable with quickly/with minimal guidance, navigating organization, getting answers and generating work product Current IT Certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, or other relevant technologies preferred.
