Global Category Manager (SEB)

Global Category Manager, Indirect Spend is responsible for defining and implementing the strategy for the indirect spend category up to $120M spend per year. This role will be expected to identify and implement productivity and service improvement initiatives across the category.
This role is responsible for the long-term strategic development and management of key supplier/sourcing relationships for the category. This role will be a member of the purchasing leadership team and is expected to optimize value through cost reduction, innovation, avoidance of supply disruption, risk mitigation and growth throughout supplier relationship life cycle.
Responsible for global-based efforts to drive strategic sourcing initiatives, including delivering value across the indirect spend category A highly visible, hands-on position that will require strong business acumen, excellent people skills, and an ability to improve processes on a continuous basis. Requires a full understanding of total cost of ownership, lead-time, and risk across the category Develop and manage assigned key supplier relationships to deliver reliable product supply and total cost effectiveness while meeting or exceeding all customer service, compliance, product requirements, and key performance metrics. This includes material and process selection for purchases, locating and selecting suppliers, negotiating supply agreements and establishing supplier performance metrics. Develop and improve large spend category strategies and major business processes such as business continuity and supplier selection to deliver annual improvements in total cost, quality and service, and support sites as needed. Develop and implement a process to communicate, monitor, and manage compliance with the sourcing strategy or business process. Establish, manage and lead cross-functional teams (e. g. Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Product Development, Technology, Legal
egulatory, finance, IT, and Marketing) to manage the development and implementation of the procurement category strategy. Develop supplier segmentation (critical, strategic, preferred, approved, operational) and develops, maintains, and communicates a preferred supplier and approved product/service list for the category. Develop and execute contingency policies/programs with suppliers in order to ensure continuity of supply or to address unexpected threats to supply chain fulfillment. Administer contracts for key suppliers. Provide category and process expertise to create and execute sourcing strategies and lead supplier management for defined categories. Develop and implement key sourcing process steps, including opportunity assessment, strategy development, data analysis, supplier negotiation, award recommendations, and supplier contract execution.
B.S. is required, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Operation Research; Master’s degree preferred. 10+ years’ experience in procurement roles, 4+ years in procurement management roles. SME for procurement concepts, global supply chain processes, activities, and trends Understanding of trade and regulatory requirements for international and domestic trade. Advanced analytical interpretation and problem-solving skills. Excellent mastery of Excel, Access, Word, and other MS Office applications. MRP/ERP experience, E1 preferred. Excellent organizational skills. Solid understanding of total cost of ownership, lead-time, and risk assessment/mitigation across the category.
