VP of Tax and Audit (MLM)

The VP plays a vital role within the organization, serving as a primary contact for clients and a resource for staff. This position is one step below partner and involves collaboration with partners to enhance departmental systems, establish protocols, assess resource needs, support firm growth, conduct staff training, and manage client relationships.

Responsibilities:
Client Service:
Oversee multiple client engagements, ensuring timely progress and effective communication. Support staff in assurance and tax areas, emphasizing hands-on training and development. Fill in on engagements when necessary staffing is unavailable. Collaborate with partners and staff to develop engagement plans and testing strategies. Act as the primary relationship manager for clients within the designated department. Assist in scheduling engagements for staff. Supervise and provide guidance to junior staff, including reviewing their work, offering performance feedback, and delegating tasks based on their abilities. Conduct planning meetings before engagements commence. Lead end-of-audit exit conferences with management. Review all reports prior to release and maintain open communication with clients. Assist partners in presenting financial information to client governing bodies.

In addition to engagement-specific duties, the VP will also hold a supervisory role in various client projects and firm activities, including: Coordinating staffing across multiple engagements with management and senior staff. Reviewing work papers and providing constructive feedback to enhance staff performance. Contributing to the growth of the department through staff education, technology improvements, and shared best practices. Staying updated on regulatory changes in accounting and the construction sector. Participating in the evaluation of staff and engagements according to firm policies. Engaging in marketing activities to support firm development.

Eligibility:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution. Approximately 10 years of relevant experience in public accounting, particularly in construction and real estate. CPA licensure. Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP, SSARS, and GAAS, with a preference for construction experience. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Familiarity with ProSystem fx Engagement and CCH Tax is advantageous. Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and research skills.
