Payroll Manager

Responsible for the accurate and timely administration and processing of the company’s payroll. This includes the timely and accurate delivery of payroll and related client service, including recordkeeping and reporting.

The Payroll Manager will process bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for approximately 500 US based employees across four legal entities, and maintain payroll information as required. Review payroll and account reconciliations. Supervise or perform data entry for time and attendance and personnel transactions such as new hires, terminations, leave of absence, benefits deductions, garnishments, flexible spending, 401(k), etc. Prepare calculation of special payments including disability, bonus, retro, and pro-rated salaries. Audit payroll reports and entries prior to submission to 3rd party payroll service. Respond to inquiries from States regarding withholding and unemployment taxes. Prepare and maintain payroll records and reports. Prepare and maintain standard and ad hoc reports, queries, and conducts appropriate audits to ensure data integrity. Research and resolve problems, performs scheduled activities and is a liaison with service providers. Provide timely and accurate payroll related assistance to employees as requested. Document workflow and work procedures for audit purposes. Provides year end support including audits and tax filings. Supervise Payroll Specialist. Participate and take a leading role in projects such as transitioning to a new payroll system and implementing payroll for an hourly manufacturing work force.

Bachelor’s is required. A minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll administration and processing. Must have experience processing payroll in the ADP system. Knowledge of payroll practices and principles. Knowledge of state and federal employment laws relating to key areas of responsibility. Certified payroll professional, American Payroll Associate, a plus. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Good analytical skills and the ability to gather and interpret data. Excellent spreadsheet skills required. Highly motivated and proactive approach to the job. Experience with computerized systems. Experience managing transition to a new payroll service provider/HRIS, a plus.
