Manager, Global Retirement Plans (JM)

Our client is seeking a candidate who has a solid background working with US retirement plans in a Corporate environment. We are not expecting the candidate to have international experience. Ideally, we are looking for someone with 5+ years of experience and a strong Managerial background. This position will have 2 direct reports. We are also looking for someone who is technologically savvy and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

The Manager, Global Retirement Plans is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the administration of the Company’s Global retirement plans including the US Defined Contribution plan, financial wellness programs, and voluntary benefit programs. This individual will provide support in the delivery of these programs and will serve as a subject matter expert and will ensure compliance across the globe. The Manager will interface with vendors, brokers, Human Resources, HRIS, IT, Payroll and other internal departments. Work closely with the Vice President and Sr. Director- Retirement Plans in the review and implementation of new benefit plans and programs globally. Oversee broker relationships in Canada and internationally. This entails working closely with local HR partners and brokers to review plan designs for competitiveness, compliance and consistency with market practices. Retirement lead for global initiatives, including total rewards statement rollout and Workday advanced benefits functionality. Lead the implementation of new plans, programs or changes to existing plans by overseeing required Workday and vendor updates, preparing communications, conducting HR and associate meetings. Analyze surveys, benefits competitiveness compared to various benchmarks globally. Responsible for maintaining an inventory of all retirement plans globally. Audit HR System/Workday and integrations as needed to ensure accuracy of eligibility, benefits, plan provisions, and data integrity. Coordinate and manage the delivery of benefit communications including but not limited to SPDs, Policy and Procedure manuals, and ensure timely updates to the company intranet site and Benefits Portal. Stay well informed and ensure the company is in compliance with all federal, state laws, and regulations and court rulings which impact Retirement plans. Manage and mentor direct reports on the retirement team. Identify opportunities for operational improvements and work with various teams to implement changes. Provide training for HR staff and associates as needed. Assist management on special projects as needed. Other activities as assigned.


5-8 years of experience in a Corporate Benefits environment with an emphasis on retirement plans, financial wellness, and voluntary benefit programs. Prior experience managing direct reports. Bachelor’s degree is required and benefits training preferred (i.e., AMA, CEBS). Experience and understanding of applicable federal and local regulations pertaining to benefits. Knowledge of Canadian and International retirement and benefit programs is a plus. Math aptitude and the ability to effectively analyze data. Strong technical skills. Advanced level Excel skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects under strict time constraints. Experience with Workday is a plus.
