The Payroll Director will be responsible for supporting the Payroll team in monitoring timely and accurate processing of payroll & taxes, resolution of tax issues and, reconciliation of payroll accounts for North America. As the Payroll Director and subject matter expert, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end Payroll function for the business. The Payroll Director will lead the optimization of payroll processes and implement new payroll systems.

Responsibilities:
Ensure that North America business unit payrolls (salary, tax, time & attendance) are processed timely & accurately by the Payroll vendor, and in a compliant manner. Responsible for leading and providing direction to the NA Payroll team. Ensure payroll is processed timely & accurately - responsible for ensuring employee data is recorded accurately & payroll processed in the local payroll system. Analyze payroll & tax issues and recommend corrective actions. Support Finance in resolving Payroll related Finance issues. Implement new payroll systems and conversions. Responsible for the maintenance of the time clock system including access rights to new employees and leaders, understanding adjustments, reviewing and producing reports. Audit and approve payroll with external Payroll Service Provider. Execute payroll controls and store evidence to ensure audit trail is in place and in accordance with the Internal Control Framework (ICF). Responsible for year-end testing, timely and accurate issue of W2s. Responsible for management of overpayments & underpayment claims. Works closely with payroll service provider and team in identifying need for system revisions, formulating configuration requests, testing and validation. Lead and support payroll projects as needed.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 10+ years of Payroll experience. Must have strong knowledge of payroll principles, procedures and regulations on the federal, state, and local levels. Knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal controls and payroll taxes. Strong skills in excel working with complex formulas (i.e. pivot tables, vlookup, sumif, etc.). Strong analytical skills and proven ability to draw conclusions from data compiled from multiple sources. Advanced Payroll Certification is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized, rigorous and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high energy environment. Demonstrated ability to work independently and is resourceful, creative and time sensitive juggling multiple projects for challenging deadlines. Able to deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment. Knowledge and experience processing journal entries a plus. Experience processing international payroll a plus. Able to interact with a variety of people at all levels and provide information and support. Must enjoy working in a team environment and be able to collaborate with other teams and individuals.
