The Director, Human Resources is responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function. The HR Director will build the HR function from scratch, including a team in the future. Develops a culture that enables employees to perform in accordance with company objectives. Directs the development and implementation of organizational development programs, employee orientation and training programs, benefits plans, policies and guidelines, database management procedures, equal opportunity employment programs, and employee records and documentation policies.
Manages human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; resolving problems; implementing change. Design and implement company handbook, policies and procedures. Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organizations policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters. Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organizations compliance. Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters and procedures. Effectively plans, designs, develops, and evaluates human resource-related initiatives that support organization strategic goals. Leads performance management, talent assessment, and effective labor relationships, including negotiating and administering labor agreements. Recommends, evaluates, and participates in staff development for the organization. Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations. Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters and works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters. Develops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the organizations personnel information needs. Plans and oversees the budget of the department. Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field required, Masters preferred. 7+ years of progressively responsible and broad experience in human resources, including current best practices. PHR/SPHR or other HR certification preferred. Experience within manufacturing, medical devices, or pharma industry required. Experience being the sole HR professional within an organization. Knowledgeable and up to date on relevant federal, state, and local employment laws and specific experience ensuring their compliance. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with great attention to detail. Strong relationship management skills. Flexibility, ability to change priorities quickly, and capacity to handle multiple projects. Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment.
