As a Distribution Manager, you will oversee all day-to-day operations in our distribution center. These include the preparation and execution of orders, supervision of all warehouse employees, and managing daily schedules and staffing levels. This role is also responsible for increasing overall performance by improving workflow efficiency and ensuring individual accountability based on KPIs. The Distribution Manager must be accessible and responsive while ensuring that both internal and external customers receive the highest level of service.
Provide direct daily supervision of warehouse and transportation employees; management responsibilities include hiring, firing, managing employee performance and providing feedback, training, coaching, mentoring and ensuring employees have the necessary tools and resources to be successful at their job. Provide leadership and motivation to management staff and warehouse associates. Communicate effectively with associates and create an open communication style that fosters a collaborative work environment. Assist and oversee the technical day-to-day activities of the warehouse distribution. This includes ensuring the smooth flow of internal processes such as inventory control, cycle counts, pick-packing, troubleshooting, and on-time deliveries. Work to improve internal processes and identify opportunities to implement software/tools to make our distribution more effective. Maintain close partnership with the Human Resources team in regard to hiring and labor practices in line with OSHA. Direct and supervise all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure they are correct and carried out in a timely fashion. Handle multiple projects at once, deal with rapidly changing priorities.
Bachelors or equivalent experience. At least 10 years of warehouse distribution, third-party logistics, or direct business-to-consumer distribution facility with 5 years minimum management experience. Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly growing, and geographically distributed environment. Knowledge of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), WTS (Warehouse Transportation Systems), VTS (Vehicle Tracking System), VRS (Vehicle Routing Systems) or other Shipping and Receiving systems. Strong technical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Data-driven mindset and relentless attention to detail to execute work at the highest level; ability to provide accurate, thorough, and consistent information when accomplishing a task; ability to identify trends and make recommendations from data and analysis. Self-starter with good judgment and can proactively manage up where appropriate. Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal. Time management/prioritization and follow-up skills. Highly organized and detail oriented. Flexibility to work variable schedules including evenings, weekends and holidays.
