The Senior Manager, Payroll provides supervision and oversight for the daily activities associated with processing the hourly, salaried and Canada bi-weekly payrolls, and the Expatriate monthly payroll. Oversees 2 employees with the payroll processing, and is responsible to audit, troubleshoot, analyze, review, reconcile and resolve payroll processing issues in the Workday system to ensure the payroll is completed in accordance with deadlines. Ensure payroll reporting and payments to employees and third parties are compliant with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles, and federal, state and IRS regulations. Research and interpret Federal, State and local regulatory requirements and resolve tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues for payroll processing as needed.
Supervise payroll staff with the bi-weekly and monthly payroll processes. This oversight includes managing the administration and processing of transactions in three modules in Workday -- Payroll, Absence and Time Tracking. Audit all payroll related activities to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local wage and hour laws. 35%. Serve as subject matter expert for Workday Payroll, Absence and Time Tracking modules. Troubleshoot issues as needed and coordinate with consultants to resolve issues unable to resolve in-house. Lead and test all Workday configuration changes in these three modules. 25%. Lead year-end process for US and Canada to ensure tax documents are generated in accordance with guidelines and deadlines. Ensure configuration for year-end process is set up in Workday. Coordinate with various third parties to gather information needed for the year-end process. 10%. Oversee quarterly and annual tax reporting to third party vendor, to ensure accurate filing to Federal, State and Local agencies. Ensure Workday system is updated with accurate tax information to comply with requirements.10%. Liaise with Finance, Accounting and Treasury to resolve all payroll related issues related to the General Ledger. Troubleshoot issues in the Workday system and make system configuration edits as needed to support various financial reporting requirements. 10%. Manage and lead various special payroll related projects as needed. 10%.
8+ years of payroll experience including at least 3-5 years of Workday payroll experience. Bachelors degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance. Prior supervisory experience required. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills essential. Pharmaceutical industry experience desirable. Prior Workday Absence and Time Tracking experience is desirable. Strong organizational skills essential. Ability to juggle priorities. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to work with all levels of employees in the organization. Strong project management skills required, including ability to lead projects and take to completion. Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and guidelines including multi-state payroll processing. Prior experience processing Canada payroll desirable. Basic accounting skills. Very strong Excel spreadsheet skills, including knowledge of vlookups and pivot tables. Must be able to work with very large amounts of data. Must have very strong attention to detail and audit skills. Knowledge of 401k and other benefit deductions helpful.
