Global consumer products client is seeking a Senior Cost Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting for 10 domestic facilities and ensuring compliance with US GAAP requirements. The ideal candidate will be able to review monthly journal entries, complex analysis and account reconciliations, and maintenance of SOX requirements. The position will report directly to the company’s Corporate Controller of Operations. Location is Morris Plains New Jersey. Relocation services will be offered. Role will be a hybrid consisting of time in the corporate office and remote. CPA and public accounting (big 4) exp preferred. Food industry preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collect and analyze data to calculate cost of goods sold and value inventory. Review allocation of fixed overhead costs to cost of goods sold. Review and monitor the master inventory list to ensure accurate prices and classification of materials. Assist in month-end close of the general ledger. Reconcile inventory subledger to general ledger on a monthly basis. Design and implement internal controls to ensure data integrity. Manage inventory counts at least on a semiannual basis. Assist in forecasting and the annual budgets. Ensure compliance with US GAAP. Manage loading of new standards to the ERP system in support of budgeting process and new item introductions. Support set ups in ERP system for products, customers, and vendors. Investigate changes in profit margins and prepare variance analytics/commentary. Work closely with the company’s independent auditors during the annual audit.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, MBA preferred. CPA and/or CMA Preferred. 5-10 years of accounting experience with a strong focus in cost accounting. Experience in public accounting. Experience within the manufacturing industry. Experience working with ERP systems. Excellent computer skills, including spreadsheet (Excel) and database tools. Proven ability to execute month-end closing duties. Multi-tasker that is flexible and eager to help the company reach historic goals. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues to senior management in a clear and concise manner. Experience creating new best practices when needed.
