VP of Data Architecture and Innovation (BC)

Large IT solutions company dealing primarily in the Financial Industry. Looking for an accomplished VP Level Architect with strong experience in the data integration space to help build and integrate a data-driven intelligent solution into our new Cloud offering and our business processes. This role will report to the CIO and will be responsible for managing the innovation development processes, and will be responsible for driving the data architecture for the company’s products and IT processes. This is a unique opportunity to drive data innovation in a technology company that is undergoing a transformation into a software based cloud company. The position requires directing a team of architects, and software developer that will define end user proofs of concept to test the architectures, usage models and corresponding technologies in testbed or real end user environments. They also work with end users and ecosystem partners to deploy those solutions in early adopter production environments.


Requirements:

Minimum 10 years of software development and architecture experience. Minimum Bachelor's degree or 7 or more years in enterprise software architecture design and experience leading teams. Degree Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, or other related technical field.


Leadership Skills Required: Experience mentoring and training the development teams on complex technical issues. Experience in architecting and directing data architecture implementations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences. Success delivering products/services in a high-growth environment, exhibiting strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous customer-focused problems. Experience in managing software development teams. Experience with Agile (SCRUM, SAFE), OO, web services, UNIX, middleware, and database systems. Directs the activities of a staff integrating hardware and/or software framework, systems and/or product design functions or designing underlying architecture for use in one or more product offerings. Evaluates final results of design assuring accomplishment of technical objectives. Prepares and presents reports outlining the outcome of projects and makes recommendations for actions necessary to achieve desired results. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.


Technical Skills Required: Demonstrates thought leader-level knowledge with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts in the following areas: Java and Javascript software development languages; Voice over IP and WebRTC software experience; Design and operational experience with high availability web transactional systems; Cloud based platforms; Natural language processing techniques and leading technologies;Machine learning algorithms and leading technologies; Web application design and application frameworks such as Play or Spring; REST services and middle tier business layer design patterns; Web UI creation and use of recent javascript libraries; Relational databases and SQL; Database design, creation, manipulation and query; NoSQL datastores; including Hadoop and MongoDB; Linux OS and development tooling as well as open source libraries.
